Lodging
Central Austin offers wonderful vacation and business options for the visitor. There
are numerous recreational, entertainment, and fine dining opportunities. However, it may
not be the most convenient location for the potential homebuyer to use as a base. Downtown
does not give a good representation of Austin's varied lifestyles and opportunities. See
our North Austin Lodging page for other lodging accommodations in
North Austin.
- Four Seasons Hotel, 98 San Jacinto Blvd., 512-478-4500
- Expensive! This is perhaps one of Austin's finest hotels. It is located on Town lake
offering recreational opportunities at your door steps as well as easy access to Austin's
famed bat flight each summer night at sundown, (some feel this is a bit overrated). Also,
they have a good restaurant, the Café.
- Embassy Suites, 300 S. Congress, 512-469-9000
- Expensive! Located one block from Town Lake. This is a very popular hotel and is usually
booked well in advance. Excellent for the visitor needing a suite. There is good dining
within a short walk as well as excellent recreational opportunities.
- Doubletree Guest Suites, 303 West 15th, 512-478-7000
- Moderate to expensive! This hotel is a bit worn and the location in relation to dining
and recreation is not the best. However, they do run some good weekend specials.
- Homestead Village, 507 South First, 512-476-1818
- Reasonable! Maybe not the best location downtown, however they are part of a chain
offering smaller hotel rooms with a kitchenette specializing in one week plus stays. Most
Homesteads are newer and offer an excellent opportunity.
- Other Chain hotels:
- Marriott, 701 E. 11th Street, 512-478-1111 (nice and Moderate)
- La Quinta, 300 E. 11th Street, 512-476-1166 (older property. Moderate)
- Hyatt Regency, 208 Barton Springs Rd., 512-477-1234 (don't believe hype about
best Fajitas in town. Good location on Town Lake. Expensive)
